Week two of Noah’s dream trip—revealed on the last night of week one. Patagonia to the subtropics in a single travel day: cold mornings give way to eighty degrees, lily pads, and a fish that eats like it is angry about it.
The lodging follows the fishing.
Each fishery has its own comfortable Set lodge, allowing the week to be built around water rather than one fixed base. Each lodge hosts a maximum of ten guests across six rooms, with air conditioning, comfortable beds, cold drinks, and home-cooked meals. La Alondra’i can also reach remote camps deeper in Iberá; Jetu’u and Itatí are lodge-based.
The rhythm is subtropical: breakfast and out around sunrise, back for a real lunch and siesta through the heat, then out again for the evening bite. Guides make bigger flies, retrieves, and strip sets approachable while navigating a maze that never looks the same twice.
TRIP DETAILS
Lodging, guided fishing, meals at the program, and listed in-country transfers are typically packaged together. International airfare, Buenos Aires hotels, gratuities, insurance, and personal purchases are generally separate. Set will itemize the exact proposal.
Golden dorado conditions shift with heat, rain, river levels, and fish movement. Set uses your preferred timing and priorities to recommend the strongest two-fishery pairing.
Trips generally connect through Buenos Aires to Corrientes, followed by ground transfers to the first lodge. Set coordinates the in-country sequence between fisheries and confirms the full transfer plan.
Plan around 8-weight rods, appropriate floating and intermediate lines, strong leaders, large flies, sun protection, light rainwear, and clothing for heat and humidity. Ask about loaner tackle before traveling.
Most fishing is from a boat, so the main demand is standing, repeated casting, sun, and accuracy rather than hiking. The strip set is learnable; the guides coach it, but losing fish remains part of the experience.
Expect subtropical warmth, humidity, insects, strong sun, and possible thunderstorms. Early and late fishing with a midday break is part of the program’s natural rhythm.
A TYPICAL WEEK
Iberá to Ysoró. Set combines two of three fisheries. This is the pairing Wild Fly experienced—not the only possible version of the trip.
DAY 1 — ARRIVE
Fly Buenos Aires to Corrientes, transfer to La Alondra’i, rig 8-weights, and learn what a strip set means.
DAYS 2–4 — IBERÁ WETLANDS
Skiffs into clear water, grass edges, and lily pads. One angler on the bow; evening sessions for the surface bite.
DAY 5 — MOVE TO JETU’U
Transfer to the base for both the Ysoró Wetlands and Middle Paraná.
DAYS 6–7 — MARSH + PARANÁ
Fish streamers and surface flies tight to structure, balancing wetland action with the river’s larger-fish potential.
DAY 8 — DEPART
Transfer to Corrientes for the flight to Buenos Aires.
EACH DAY — ADAPT
Guides adjust water and timing to heat, weather, fish movement, and your priorities. Lunch, cold drinks, and a siesta reset the day before the evening bite window.

YSORÓ · JETU’U
Dynamic wetland action. Channels, lagoons, flooded marsh, and abundant forage create frequent opportunities at aggressive fish of varied sizes. Jetu’u also reaches the Middle Paraná for larger structure and open water.
IBERÁ · LA ALONDRA’I
Pristine wilderness immersion. Clear water, poling skiffs, topwater, and one angler on the bow. Wildlife and optional remote camps deeper in the marsh make this the most immersive wilderness expression.
UPPER PARANÁ · ITATÍ
Trophy-focused big water. Rocky water below the dams, resident fish capable of exceeding thirty pounds, and slower presentations—including swung big flies—for anglers chasing the top of the food chain.
The simplest distinction: action at Ysoró, wilderness at Iberá, and trophy-focused big water on the Upper Paraná. Season and water matter, but so does what you want from the week.
CONSERVATION + RESEARCH
The fishing and the stewardship are inseparable. Set supports Golden Dorado Conservation Coalition research with Argentine universities and an international science team. Its guides are trained to administer research tags, allowing guests to contribute directly to protecting the fishery.
