About Flathead Fly Fishing Guides
Brandon Barnes, owner of Flathead Fly Fishing Guides, has been part of the Wild Fly orbit for quite a while. You might recognize him from our South Florida adventures or some of our more recent films in Montana. He’s the kind of guy you’re always happy to share a day with, whether that means chasing fish from a skiff, floating a river, or swapping stories once the rods are put away.
Based in Columbia Falls, just outside Glacier National Park, Brandon and his crew offer private fishing experiences throughout the Flathead Valley and northwest Montana. From scenic floats on the Flathead River to jet boat missions on the lower river and trout fishing on the Missouri, they cover a wide range of water and welcome everyone from first-time fly anglers to seasoned fishermen. For anyone headed to Whitefish, Kalispell, West Glacier, Coram, Bigfork, or elsewhere in the region, they’re a great group to spend a day on the water with.
Why We Fish With Brandon
What keeps us coming back to Brandon has as much to do with the people as the fishing. He and his crew know this corner of Montana incredibly well, but they also know how to keep things relaxed, adapt to what the day gives them, and make sure everyone has a good time along the way.
Whether you’re hoping to find a big brown, chase native Westslope cutthroat, sharpen your skills, or simply see some beautiful country from the river, you’re in good hands. Brandon and his guides are some of our favorite people to spend time with in Montana, and we couldn’t recommend them more highly.
Full Day Missouri
Brandon’s program also gives you plenty of flexibility depending on how much time you have and when you’re visiting. Half-day floats are an easy addition to a trip around Glacier, while a full day opens up more options. One worth keeping on the radar is the Missouri River, a crew favorite that produces well beyond the heart of summer. If you’re headed to Montana in the spring or fall, it can be an especially good reason to dedicate a day to fishing.
